Thai Boat Noodles or ก๋วยเตียวเรือ is a thick and flavorful noodles dish. It’s called Boat Noodles because it was originally served from boats that traversed Bangkok’s canals back in the past when boats were major transportation in Thailand. The dish is also served in restaurants nowadays. The popular area in Thailand you can find Boat Noodles are Ayutthaya Province and the Victory Monument neighborhood in Bangkok.
Today I’m taking you to the Victory Monument neighborhood to try some of these delicious noodles. Theses noodles are served in a small portion, so usually it takes up to 5-6 bowls to fill my tummy depending on how hungry I am.
This time, my friend and I ordered 4 bowls each and an extra side of crispy pork rinds (กากหมู). Boat Noodles are served with pork or beef along with morning glory and sweet basil leaves.
The Noodles is seasoned with chili peppers, vinegar, and a pinch of sugar in a thick soup that contains pig’s or cow’s blood mixed with spices. (I know some of you might have already said eww at this point, but it that makes it thick and flavorful I promise haha)
Let me know if you have tried this dish somewhere in Thailand or if you are planning to have one, please let me know what you think of this dish :)
